Emergency Rotating Shelter 2017 Update
We finished a great week at the shelter on Monday. We had over 100 wonderful volunteers from Haven, Our Youth Group, Union United Methodist, Cecil Dance Theatre, North East High School, Girl Scouts and Union Hospital. These great volunteers provided service, meals, haircuts, entertainment, prayers and listening ears for our guest over the course of the week. What a blessing it has been to see God’s hand at work within our church family! As volunteers can attest, it was a blessing to meet and get to know the guests.
Over the 7-day period, Haven fed and provided a warm place to stay and delicious meals for an average of 29 people per night for a total of 205 bed nights. Also, absolutely nothing went to waste. We donated leftover meals to the men’s shelter at Settlement House and the Mary Randall Center in Elkton. We cannot thank everyone enough for all the support, service and prayer that made this possible. God Bless You All!
