Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts
Each Christian has received certain gifts to be used to build up the body of Christ. The promise is there in the Bible: “We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us” (Romans 12:6a). “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7). No one has received all the spiritual gifts, but God has given at least one gift, and often several, to each individual.
Christians are called to use their gifts in service, to meet the needs of their congregations and communities. In this way they act as Jesus’ hands, feet, eyes, and ears in the world, serving others by following Christ’s example.

Pupose
The assessment you are about to take will help you begin a process of identifying and exploring your gifts. This is not a test that measures your level of faith or spirituality. Instead, this process of discovering your gifts will enrich your faith and indicate how you can best serve Christ’s mission in the world.
Procedure
The accuracy of the self-assessment is directly related to the honesty of your answers. Answer without fudging. There are no right or wrong ways to respond to these items. If you answer the way you think you should be, the way you would like to be, or the way others think you should be, then the assessment will not be accurate. Respond with your honest assessment of the way you actually are and what is true to your own life experiences. This is the only way you will get a true picture of your gifts.
Answer each statement as best you can, without omitting any of them. As you read and consider each one, think, “This has been true in my life . . . ,” and then check the response that best applies: 1 – Almost Never, 2 – Sometimes, 3 – Almost Always. Mark only one response for each statement.
IMPORTANT: Some items reflect gifts that necessarily include a combination of behaviors. When responding to these items, respond to the entire statement, not just part of it.
Go ahead and respond to each statement. Preface each one by thinking, “This has been true in my life . . . .”
