D.R. Barton, JR.

D.R. Barton received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and his MBA from the University of Delaware. He was a Certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church for over a decade and became a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Delaware in 1989.  D.R. lives with his wife, Cathie Barton, Ph.D. and has two adult children, Meg and Josh. D.R. started his vocational career with a 15-year stretch as a chemical engineer with chemical industry giant DuPont. After serving in both technical and management positions, D. R. chose an early retirement package so he could concentrate full time on his vocational love – the financial markets.

Currently, D. R. is the executive editor of three different financial newsletters for Agora, Inc.

Mr. Barton is the co-author of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling book Safe Strategies for Financial Freedom, published by McGraw-Hill.  D. R.’s is the sole author of his latest book, The 10-Minute Millionaire published by John Wiley and Sons, Inc. in February of 2017.

D.R. is very active in the Delmarva Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis communities where he has served in multiple roles including weekend Lay Director for both a Chrysalis youth weekend and a Walk to Emmaus Men’s weekend.

On the academic front, D.R. has taught and coached over 40 teams of 8 – 12-year-olds in Delaware’s annual economics competition, with state champion teams in each age division. He has coached Delaware Science Olympiad teams and teaches public speaking to elementary and middle school students.  D.R. also enjoys working with youth in athletics. He coached baseball for five years and served on the local Little League board.  He also started and coached the basketball team at Newark Charter middle school. Mr. Barton’s volunteer and service activities were recognized in the spring of 2006 when he received the Jefferson Presidential Award for outstanding community service.
